Gran Canaria Getaway: A Peaceful Adults-Only Escape in the Sun at H10 Costa Mogan

We arrived in Gran Canaria on Friday, 1st August, ready for a relaxing break. After landing, we had a 1-hour and 15-minute transfer to our hotel, which felt long after the journey from England. If you're considering staying on this side of the island, I'd 100% recommend booking a private transfer to make things easier and quicker.

We finally arrived at the hotel around 10:45pm and were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of red wine and two plates of food in our room - a thoughtful touch after a late arrival.

The Resort: Adults-Only Bliss

This was an adults-only hotel, and it absolutely delivered on peace and quiet. We stayed in the Junior Suite with sea views, and it was modern, spacious, and came with a fantastic view over the North Atlantic Ocean. The entire resort was spotless, with immaculately kept grounds and a genuinely relaxing vibe throughout.

There was a large pool, two hot tubs, and a separate shallow pool (0.5m) - great for a quick dip. Though it’s worth noting the floor in the shallow pool could use some attention, as it was starting to lift, but wasn't sharp so still usable.

A big bonus was the free gym on-site, which was well equipped and ideal for a quick workout before breakfast or during quieter hours.

We opted to stay at the resort for our entire trip, as there weren't many excursions we fancied (and the Jet2 ones were a bit expensive for what was on offer). But to be honest, we were more than happy relaxing in such a lovely setting.

Getting Around

While the resort feels tucked away and peaceful, it’s not completely cut off. There’s a bus stop directly outside the hotel entrance, which offers a convenient way to reach local towns and attractions. Alternatively, you can easily grab a taxi if you prefer more direct travel. There's also an ATM just outside the resort, making it quick and easy to get cash.

Food & Drink

The buffet offered a great selection of food - plenty of variety to keep things interesting throughout the stay. One small downside for me was that there was no outdoor seating at the restaurant - I love dining outside, especially in the evenings.

We also dined at the à la carte restaurant, called Costa Fusion, which served a beautiful 5-course meal - a lovely change of pace from the buffet and well worth trying during your stay.

The courses included:

  • Course 1: Tasting butters with freshly baked bread, an international cheese plate, and a welcome glass of cava
  • Course 2: Prawn salad and Iberian ham croquettes
  • Course 3: Mango and gin sorbet
  • Course 4: Choice of tuna stew with Canarian potatoes and avocado mojo, or BBQ ribs with rustic mashed potato and Andalusian paprika
  • Course 5: Mini hot chocolate cake with ice cream and caramel sauce, served with two shot glasses of Amaretto and two fizzy sweets

The bars could be slow at peak times, but the staff were always warm and friendly - and even remembered our orders, which was a nice personal touch. There was also self-service for fizzy drinks, juice, and beer.

Highlights of the Stay

  • Riviera Beach Club: A definite highlight. For €35 for two people, booked at the pool bar (card only), we had access to this chilled-out area with comfy Balinese loungers and a relaxed vibe. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne and a fruit platter
  • Sky Bar: Up on the rooftop, this spot was totally free and featured sunbeds and a bar with spectacular views - perfect for catching the sunset. It’s open daily from 2 PM to 8 PM, so definitely plan a visit during those hours.
  • Entertainment: The daytime entertainment was great, with plenty of activities going on, and the evening shows were fun too, with 2–3 performances a week, and live music on the other nights.

A Few Minor Cons

While we had a fantastic time, a few things are worth mentioning:

  • There’s no balcony light switch (or at least we couldn’t find one), so the balcony outside was always lit up, which shone in the room at times during the night.
  • There are no major towns or attractions within walking distance, so this location is better suited to those looking to stay put and unwind - but the bus and taxi options do help if you wanted to explore further afield.
  • As mentioned, bar service could be slow during peak times but always came with a smile.
  • The shallow pool floor needs a bit of maintenance.

Final Thoughts

This adults-only resort in Gran Canaria was everything we hoped for - a peaceful, well-maintained, and relaxing spot to unwind. From the beautiful sea-view rooms and immaculate grounds, to the great food, welcoming staff, and a few standout extras like the Sky Bar and Riviera Beach Club, it was a lovely place to switch off.

If you’re looking for a quiet, sun-soaked getaway with modern comforts and no kids around, this resort ticks all the boxes. Just make sure to book a private transfer, take advantage of the à la carte dinner, and don’t miss the Sky Bar sunset views

Would I go back? Absolutely. I'd just book a private transfer, bring a good book or two, and settle in for pure relaxation.
